Two Different Coast Guard Ship Models

The United States Coast Guard is charged with the duty of
patrolling the waters belonging to the U.S. These boats are
meant to catch lawbreakers as well as to rescue the unfortunate.
Just as it is possible to construct or buy any other ship
models, there are Coast Guard ship models available to add to
any collection. Two of the types of ships most widely used by
the Coast Guard are also available as Coast Guard ship models.
These are the 110-foot patrol boat, Island Class, and 41-foot
utility boat. Each of these types of boats has special duties
and makes an excellent display piece.

The Coast Guard ship models depicting Island Class patrol boats
are especially interesting to make. These ships are modified
versions of a British patrol boat that has enjoyed a great deal
of success. The Island Class craft were commissioned to be made
between the years of 1986 and 1992. However, there are still 41
of these vessels still operating. The Island Class is so named
because each of the boats is named after an island owned by the
U.S. Coast Guard ship models of specific island class vessels
often come in kits with decals corresponding to the proper boat.

There are far more 41-foot utility boats in operation by the
Coast Guard then there are Island Class ships. This is because
the utility boat is one of the most commonly used of the Coast
Guard boats. Coast Guard ship models replicating the look of
this boat show a craft ideal for rescue missions. Indeed, most
lost boaters and many oil spills are taken care of by the crews
of the 41-footers. They have been in operation for 20 years, and
are still a critical part of the fleet.

All Coast Guard ship models are made to show the high tech
navigation equipment that is present on all fleet boats.
Additionally, many models are remarkably detailed. Some ready
for display Coast Guard ship models actually depict life jackets
hanging on railings and show boxes on deck. It is also possible
to get remote controlled models that can race about on ponds or
even enter area boat races. You can build your own or buy one
ready to run. No matter which type of Coast Guard ship model you
choose to purchase, and whether you build it yourself or buy it
already assembled, it can make a great addition to your
collection.
